Victorian Townhouse in Belsize Park, North-West London, NW3
restoration : extension : interior design : bespoke furniture
Built in an architectural style typical in North and West London,
this large townhouse had been divided into two apartments. Our client
wanted us to reconvert it into a family house with an open plan kitchen
and living area and to remodel an upper floor to provide a master-bedroom
suite. The fabric of the house also needed thoroughly restoring and
the essential mechanical services and systems updating and renewing.
Having restructured the lower ground floor to facilitate an open
plan area, we fitted out the space with bespoke hardwood furniture,
forming a streamlined, luxurious kitchen, flowing into a dining
area. We installed characterful French doors which open onto the
rear garden and flood the room with natural light. Specialist craftsmen
recreated the original, elaborate staircase and extended it to the
lower floor to fully unify the house.
Both the exterior and interior of the house were sensitively renovated
to reflect the Victorian expression of the property. In order to
faithfully restore the period features to their former status, we
used many of the original patterns and moulds which we sourced for
the project. This approach allowed the house to boast an authentic
classic style whilst providing flexible living space suitable for
modern family living.
