Victorian Terraced House in Battersea, London SW11

Victorian Terraced House in Battersea London SW11

internal remodelling : interior design : refurbishment : bespoke furniture

Despite giving impression of being well preserved externally, this classic Victorian terraced house was in urgent need of internal refurbishment, repairs and upgrades. The layouts were impractical and inefficient, all services of electrics, plumbing and heating needed replacement, internal plastering was unsafe and structural defects needed intervention of an engineer.

To further improve the house after carrying out the essential repairs, we rebalanced the accommodation throughout the floors, created flexible and open living areas layout on the ground floor by forming large doorway openings in principal walls, with ceiling-height folding doors offering flexibility and functionality in how the interiors can be used. This also allowed daylight to penetrate deep into the house, adding to the sense of openness.

To reinstate the original classic character of the house, we restored and reinstated the period features lost over the years. Our architectural interventions were designed to blend seamlessly with the existing fabric of the building. Our bespoke furniture provides the family with new kitchen and essential storage space, further enhancing the period expression of the house. Despite a modest budget, the house is finished to quality standard with all new timber windows and panelled doors, solid oak flooring, soundproofing, underfloor heating, good appliances and stone countertops.
