Victorian House in Hampstead Heath, North-West London, NW3

Conservation Area

Used as student accommodation for many years, this house was in need of complete restoration and modernisation, before once again becoming a family home. As well as updating the essential services in the house, our client wanted us to create two extra bedrooms and enhance the living area, by remodelling the layout of the existing building and forming a two-storey, rear extension.

Working within a restricted budget, our designs focussed on elegant, yet cost-effective, solutions. Our prudent space-planning minimised expensive demolitions, and we carefully selected finishing materials and components appropriate to the status of each room, adopting a more utilitarian approach where feasible.

We developed the rear extension with a modernist design, allowing for a more economical construction process. This contemporary treatment balances harmoniously with the period styling of the original building and is ideal for modern family living. The bespoke, fitted furniture in the kitchen and living areas enhances the period character of the house.
